Outreach Work in public sex venues |
| A new initiative for this year will be partnership working with the local men’s health club, Heroes, in Stourbridge. A new assessment of the needs of the club has been undertaken and has seen the amount of condoms and lubricant supplied by Dudley Gay Men’s Project double. We are also starting new public sexual health promotion work in the sauna as of Monday 28 January 2007. This will run on alternative Mondays and Wednesdays to ensure availability and accessibility by a wide group of clientele. At this early stage I have already had a good uptake on leaflets, condoms and lubricant provided at the sessions, and have been approached for advice by several of the clients at Heroes at the initial sessions. We hope to further the services offered in this setting by introducing an HIV testing service on site. The owners of the sauna have given us written permission to do this and have set aside a space (free of charge) within the venue for this purpose. |
